GCCs in India set to hire over 5 lakh people in 2026: where the jobs are

Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are offices that big international companies run in India for their own technology, engineering and operations work. Think of a US bank or a European carmaker building its software in Bengaluru or Pune. A hiring tracker from the job platform foundit expects GCCs to hire about 5.1 lakh people in 2026. That would be the first time GCC hiring has crossed five lakh, and it is more than three times the 2021 level.

The key numbers

India has about 2,120 GCCs, including new ones and expansions.
GCCs hired nearly 2.28 lakh people in January–June 2026, 11% more than a year earlier. Overall white-collar hiring was down over the same period.
64% of new GCC roles need skills in AI, data science or automation.

Where the jobs are

Bengaluru: about 30% of GCC hiring
Hyderabad: 15%
Pune: 12%
Mumbai: 11%
Chennai: 9%
Delhi NCR: 8%

Smaller cities are growing fastest. Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam together make up about 15% of hiring, and their share is growing at about twice the pace of the big metros.

Which roles are in demand

Software development: the largest share, about 31% of roles
AI, data science and analytics: about 18%, and the fastest-growing area
Engineering and product R&D: about 16%
Cloud and cybersecurity: about 11%

Technology and banking/fintech companies account for more than half of all GCC hiring.

What it means for you

Most GCC hiring is for experienced people. More than half of the roles ask for 4 to 10 years of experience. If you are in this range and work in Java, cloud, data or security, GCCs are worth targeting directly.

Freshers and early-career engineers have a growing share too. Roles for 0 to 3 years of experience make up about 30% of hiring, and this was the fastest-growing group in the tracker. GCCs often hire freshers through their own careers pages and campus programmes rather than through mass drives, so check those pages often.

Add one AI or data skill to your profile. With almost two out of three new roles asking for it, even a solid basic project in data analysis or machine learning can help your application stand out.
