TCS, Infosys and HCLTech add staff in Q2: what it means for freshers

5 Nov 2026 · By Amol Pagar

India's biggest IT companies have shared their July–September 2026 (Q2 FY27) results, and the hiring numbers are better than in most recent quarters. Three of the four largest companies added people, and two of them took in thousands of fresh graduates.

What this means for job seekers

For freshers, this is the most useful news in a while. Infosys and HCLTech are clearly taking in graduates again, and Infosys still has roughly half of its yearly fresher plan left for the October–March period. If you are graduating in 2026 or 2027, keep your profile ready on each company's careers page and watch for off-campus drives.

For experienced engineers, the picture is mixed. Companies are hiring, but carefully, and mostly for skills they cannot find in-house: cloud, data, AI and cybersecurity come up again and again. Experience in one of these areas makes your application much stronger.

Attrition is steady at about 13% across the big firms. That means fewer people are leaving, so companies backfill fewer roles. Growth in openings now depends on new projects rather than on people switching jobs.
