Infosys has hired 12,000 freshers this year, 8,000 more to go

Infosys is one of the few large IT companies that has kept its fresher hiring promise this year. Here is where it stands and what it means for graduates still looking for an offer.

The plan and the progress

Target: CEO Salil Parekh said in July that Infosys plans to hire about 20,000 college graduates in FY27 (April 2026 to March 2027), about the same as the year before.
April–June: more than 4,000 freshers joined.
July–September: more than 8,000 freshers joined, the biggest quarter so far.
Total so far: more than 12,000, so over half of the yearly plan is done.

If Infosys sticks to its target, about 8,000 more freshers will join between October 2026 and March 2027.

Other numbers from the quarter

Infosys ended September with 3,32,542 employees, a net rise of 4,480.
Attrition fell to 12.7%, from 13% the quarter before.
Pay rises are being given in phases. Most employees get theirs from October, and senior staff from January.

What this means for you

For 2026 graduates still without an offer: the second half of the year is when much of the remaining hiring happens. Check the official Infosys careers page regularly and apply for entry-level roles as soon as they open.

For candidates who already have an Infosys offer: a steady hiring pace usually means joining dates move on time. If your joining date has not come yet, keep your documents ready and watch your official email.

How to prepare:

Infosys tests usually cover aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability and basic coding.
Practise one programming language well, such as Java or Python, including arrays, strings and simple data structures.
Be clear about your final-year project. Interviewers often ask you to explain it in detail.

Infosys never asks candidates to pay for tests, training or an offer letter. If someone asks you for money in Infosys's name, it is a scam.
